First time out climbing? Wanting to make the move from indoor climbing to outdoor rock climbing?
This course is for you. We go through the techniques needed for movement on rock, focusing on the use of friction and different natural features found on the crag. Time is spent introducing you to skills needed to stay safe whilst outside and in making you more aware of your surroundings. This course is focussed on ‘learning by doing’, so we pack as much real rock climbing in to the two days as possible! This way you really develop a feel for the rock.
Learning Outcomes
- Understanding of crag safety and etiquette
- Basic moves using natural features and friction of the rock
- A basic understanding of climbing equipment and its uses
- Safe and accurate use of a range of knots for tying in to a rope
- Correct belaying technique
- Safe abseil technique
- Experience of a number of different climbs at ‘beginners level’
