My name is John Bale. I am enthusiastic about the outdoors and spend most of my time in the mountains of the UK and further a field. I have climbed in the Alps and spent time ski touring in the Alps and Scotland. In October 2009 I took part in an expedition to Morocco. I have just returned from Ice Climbing in Rjukan in Norway and have spent New Year climbing and skiing in Scotland.
I am a qualified ‘Single Pitch Climbing’ instructor and a Mountain Leader with a valid Outdoor First Aid certificate.
I work freelance for a variety of companies including the Newcastle Climbing Centre and volunteer with Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and on the BMC student safety seminar each year. I also run my own climbing courses. Yes, I run them, so it will be me instructing you!
I am also a member of the professional body the Mountain Leader Training Association.
