New Site!

Kicking off the new blog. Just before I went to Namibia on expedition last month I Accidentally broke something in my word press blog. Then whilst trying to fix it I accidentally broke the whole site. In a quick move I managed to fix something up before I left but it’s the start of where the web site is going and by no means a finished product. It will take time to get there I feel! The blog is also experiencing an overhaul having lost lots of old articles I’m taking this moment to introduce some exciting new monthly features and reshape the blog.

  • Used and abused gear reviews- these will be unlike standard ones in magazines where if you’re lucky the tester might have actually seen the product in person. If you’re really lucky they might have used it for 10 minutes. I intend to review certain bits of kit that have served me for years. That has stood the test of time and being dragged around all parts of the world. I will also try and compare them to their competitors and explain why I chose that one instead.
  • Top tips. Sounds a bit cheesy but essentially once a month I will try and illustrate a top navigational, climbing or general mountain tip which will help you in you adventures
  • Food for camping, well more food for cooking in pans. And I don’t mean your horrible freeze dried meals. Things that can be done whilst out and about in the mountains with minimal effort and weight whilst still cooking in pans. Be it on the fire, trangia or other commonly used stove. We will also delve in to what to cook with a jet boil.
  • Weekly round up. Hopefully these will remain about weekly. Looking at the activities of First Mountains and the outdoor world in general!

Things to look forward to in the next week include a trip report from Namibia with photos, the First of the Used and Abused reviews and if your lucky a round up of the weeks goings on!
